Åsas Tomtebod

At Åsas Tomtebod, located in Gislaved, Sweden, they make gnomes where everything is done by hand. Wool from sheep is felted and also used for the gnomes' beards. They also spin woolen yarn, which is used for things like Claes' mittens.

Many of the gnomes are named after Åsa's family; for instance, the largest vätte, Olle, is named after Åsa's father, and Lukas is one of Åsa's grandchildren. Here you can discover a world of gnomes, trolls, witches, and more, all handmade, so no two gnomes are exactly alike.

The Story from the Swedish Forests

Deep in the Swedish forests of Småland, you will find Åsas Tomtebod. The company was founded in 1993 by Åsa Götander, who began making gnomes in a small cottage in Örnaholm. What started as a hobby and a love for craftsmanship has evolved into a beloved brand known worldwide for its charming and distinctive gnomes (in Swedish: tomtar).

Handmade Quality and Natural Materials

The hallmark of a gnome from Åsas Tomtebod is natural materials and excellent craftsmanship. Every single figure is handmade, meaning no two gnomes are exactly alike. The bodies are felted from wool, while the wild hair and big beards are made from real sheepskin:

Gotland Sheep: Provides beautiful, grey, and curly locks.
Icelandic Sheep: Used for the straight white or red hair and beards.

These materials ensure that each gnome has its own personal expression and a high quality that you can feel.
