Andersen Furniture is a Danish furniture manufacturer with roots dating back to 1916. With over 100 years of experience in traditional craftsmanship and architect-designed furniture, the company creates timeless pieces in Scandinavian style. The T1 table won the Wallpaper Design Award 2012.
Scandinavian Craftsmanship Since 1916
Andersen Furniture was founded in 1916 by master carpenter I.C.A. Jensen as a traditional cabinet-making workshop. Over the years, the company evolved to specialise in architect-designed furniture and collaborations with renowned architects. In 1978, brothers Knud and Vagn Andersen acquired the company and established Brødrene Andersen Møbelsnedkeri (Andersen Brothers Cabinet Making), continuing to produce high-quality furniture with a focus on Danish design tradition.
The next generation joined in the 1990s, first with Jørgen Andersen handling sales and marketing, followed by his younger brother Henrik Andersen, who became IT and Finance Director. Under their leadership, the company grew significantly and moved to its current premises in Hinnerup in 2007. In 2012, Poul Frandsen joined the management team.
Where Quality Meets Design
Andersen Furniture is now part of Design Concept Denmark A/S alongside brands Muubs and Top-line Group. In 2023, Randers+Radius was merged with Andersen Furniture to unite strengths under one brand. The company's motto "Quality Meets Design" reflects its philosophy of combining aesthetic design with exceptional craftsmanship.
The company works closely with talented designers and architects to challenge form, function and materials. One of their most successful collaborations is with design duo byKATO (Karl Rüdiger Rossell and Tonny Glismand), who designed the award-winning T1 table. The T1 table won the Wallpaper Design Award 2012 in the "Best Dining Table" category – one of the most prestigious accolades in international furniture design.
Product Range and Applications
Andersen Furniture's range includes tables, coffee tables, chairs, sofas, sideboards and shelving systems for both private homes and professional spaces. The furniture is crafted from carefully selected natural materials such as solid wood, often in oak and walnut, combined with durable surfaces like laminate and linoleum. The characteristic design language combines clean lines with visible carpentry details such as dowels and joints, highlighting the craftsmanship behind each piece.
The company's main markets are Denmark and Norway, but furniture is also sold to numerous European and Asian countries. Andersen Furniture serves both the retail market and the contract market with functional solutions for offices, conference rooms and public spaces.
Sustainability and Certifications
Andersen Furniture is FSC-certified, ensuring that wood used in their products comes from responsibly managed forests. The company's first FSC-certified collection was the Scope chair series, consisting of six models. Design Concept Denmark also holds the highest credit rating AAA, reflecting the company's financial stability and credibility.
The company prioritises sustainability throughout the production process. The majority of products are manufactured in Europe, with a significant proportion produced in Denmark. The furniture is designed to last for generations with honest materials and uncompromising quality, reducing the need for replacement and minimising environmental impact.
