Stelton is an iconic Danish design brand, founded in 1960, with deep roots in the Scandinavian design tradition. World-renowned for timeless classics like Arne Jacobsen's Cylinda-line and Erik Magnussen's EM77 vacuum jug, Stelton today offers everything from vacuum jugs and kitchenware to lighting and home accessories.
Stelton — More than 60 years of Danish design heritage
Stelton was founded in 1960 by two army comrades, Niels Stellan Høm and Carton Madelaire, who merged their first names to create one of Denmark's most celebrated design brands. After early ventures in sports shoes and furniture, they found their calling through a partnership with the small factory Danish Stainless in Fårevejle, which produced stainless steel tableware. It marked the beginning of a design journey spanning more than six decades.
Cylinda-line — Where it all began
In 1964, Stelton's managing director Peter Holmblad initiated a collaboration with his stepfather, the legendary Danish architect Arne Jacobsen. The result was the Cylinda-line, launched in 1967 after three years of intensive development. With its distinctive cylindrical form in brushed stainless steel, the series was avant-garde for its time. Today, Cylinda-line is recognised as an icon of timeless, classic design and is exhibited in design museums around the world.
EM77 — A design icon since 1977
Stelton's next great milestone came with designer Erik Magnussen, who created the iconic EM77 vacuum jug in 1977. With its unique rocker stopper mechanism and clean form, the EM77 quickly became Stelton's best-selling product of all time. The vacuum jug is still produced in Denmark in over 100 different colours and remains a symbol of functional Danish design.
Modern classics
Since the Ring family acquired Stelton in 2004, the brand has expanded its range with new collections and collaborations with international designers. The Emma series, with its clean lines in lacquered steel and moulded beech wood, has become a modern classic for the kitchen and dining table. Today, Stelton offers a broad assortment spanning vacuum jugs, electric kettles, and tableware to oil lamps, vases, candleholders, and accessories for life on the go with the To Go series.
Design philosophy
Stelton's design philosophy rests on four pillars: timelessness, simplicity, functionality, and innovation. The brand collaborates with carefully selected designers to create products that enrich everyday life with quality design, where form and function merge seamlessly. Stelton's guiding principle is clear: "less is more".
Award-winning design
Over the years, Stelton has received numerous international design awards, including the Red Dot Award, iF Product Design Award, Design Plus Award, and the Danish ID Prize. These accolades underscore the brand's position as one of the most innovative and trend-setting design companies in Scandinavia.
